Introducing Mark Jones

Mark Jones
Mark Jones (Film Director, Producer, Screenwriter and Actor) has recently stepped in to accompany David as Storyteller.

Mark Jones was born in Wales and moved to Worthing at the age of Thirteen. It was his 'gizmo' obsessed brother that, when price could afford a video camera, that I first started playing with a camera at the age of 16. Later, after going to further education at Worthing Sixth Form and Northbrook Collage studding graphic design, I meet a man called Chris Kirk who had given up his job and wanted to make a movie. The Film was never completed, but Chris and I continued forward and completed a Murder Mystery film called 'A Mind of Winter'. From this stemmed our first Premiere, three Half our films which were shown at the presentation room at Worthing Liberty with the Mayor as our guest. After working in Greece as an entertainer and then doing fringe theatre in London I came back to Worthing fell in Love got married to a beautiful girl called Helen and having a son called Max, then continued his film making dream and made three short films called 'Three Million Years Before Lunch', 2 and 3 being direct sequels. Then I made a ghost story called 'Devoted'.

Next a friendship with John Nathan Turner (Producer of the TV show Doctor Who in the 80's and his partner Gary Downie, who had been a production manager on shows like Eastenders) encourage me to make a feature movie. Sadly John died as I was writing a script, but Gary continued to help me and together me produced a feature film called 'Griffin' which had a sell out Premiere at the Dome Cinema for the Mayor's Charities and the went on to film festivals. I started writing another feature fim entitled, 'When all is said and done.' (Like the others all my projects have been aimed at a family audience) sadly I lost Gary, but i continued with competing the film and put on another Premiere in aid of the Mayor's charities (This time at the Connaught Theatre) and now the films gone off to this years Edinburgh film festival. (Been excepted, but if it'll been shown, I'll find out in May of this year).

During the period of showing 'When all is said and done' I was introduced to David Moodie who I got on with straight away and to date has become a close friend. David had, very sadly, lost his long term partner, who had been his story teller on his marionette shows, and had asked myself to be his story teller. Becoming part of a dying art ( one of only five marionette companies left in the company) I was more than over joyed to join the company and taking the part of 'Twilight' the story teller was a great privilege.

I've only played one show to date, but playing the character and seeing the children enjoy the show (Cinderella) was a great feeling and becoming apart of a form of entertainment that dates back over a hundred years (one of the earliest forms of entertainments that must be over a hundred years old) and encapsulate a form of true entertainment for young minds and experiencing their reaction was a true privilege. One I hope to continue to do.
